Getting Settled

I was able to take a full week off of work to be home with our family and help Jennifer back to full speed since giving birth to Brooke. The week went too fast. We are so lucky to have supportive neighbors and family who helped ensure I didn't lose any weight before Christmas time by bringing delicious meals and treats. Joshua loves his little sister. He always asks to hold her with a sweet "Hold her?" question. Of course if she starts to get fussy he is quick to let us know that he is "all done"...he may have learned that one from his dad. During the week at home with Jennifer I opted out of attending the fall commencement ceremony up at USU. Though I have been done with my MBA since August, the fact that commencement is now in the past really solidifies the done-with-school-forever feeling.

Baby Brooke Lynn Smart

Brooke was born born today, December 7th, 2009 at 5:24 p.m.; she weighed 7 lbs 6 oz and is 21 inches. She has a pretty good head of dark hair and we can't quite tell what color her eyes are yet. So far it looks like she is going to take after her mom; whereas Joshua seemed to take more after his dad. Jennifer was amazing throughout the labor and delivery. We came to the hospital at about 7:30 at which time they started the induction process. The nurses and Doctor McCulloch have taken very good care of Jennifer and Brooke. They only allow two visitors in total during this flu season, so we were lucky enough to have the grandmothers come in and see and hold their newest grandchild. We are so grateful for our growing family and for being blessed with another healthy and beautiful baby.
