Getting Settled

I was able to take a full week off of work to be home with our family and help Jennifer back to full speed since giving birth to Brooke. The week went too fast. We are so lucky to have supportive neighbors and family who helped ensure I didn't lose any weight before Christmas time by bringing delicious meals and treats. Joshua loves his little sister. He always asks to hold her with a sweet "Hold her?" question. Of course if she starts to get fussy he is quick to let us know that he is "all done"...he may have learned that one from his dad. During the week at home with Jennifer I opted out of attending the fall commencement ceremony up at USU. Though I have been done with my MBA since August, the fact that commencement is now in the past really solidifies the done-with-school-forever feeling.

Baby Brooke Lynn Smart

Brooke was born born today, December 7th, 2009 at 5:24 p.m.; she weighed 7 lbs 6 oz and is 21 inches. She has a pretty good head of dark hair and we can't quite tell what color her eyes are yet. So far it looks like she is going to take after her mom; whereas Joshua seemed to take more after his dad. Jennifer was amazing throughout the labor and delivery. We came to the hospital at about 7:30 at which time they started the induction process. The nurses and Doctor McCulloch have taken very good care of Jennifer and Brooke. They only allow two visitors in total during this flu season, so we were lucky enough to have the grandmothers come in and see and hold their newest grandchild. We are so grateful for our growing family and for being blessed with another healthy and beautiful baby.

Joshua loves playing with these two stuffed animals. He likes to give you the bear to play with him while he always gets to play with the monkey. Joshua also enjoys playing the piano while dancing at the same time. It is so cute to watch Joshua drift off while we are all eating dinner together.

Joshua dressed up as a football player for a halloween party that my sister christina and I went to.

We went to Hogle Zoo in September and Joshua loved it. He really enjoyed seeing the elephants and laughed a lot when the elephant started to splash itself with water.

Finally catching up on my blog! Here's an update about whats been going on with our family. We bought a house in Nibley this last September and recently bought two black cats. Joshua loves chasing the cats around and saying "kitty", while trying to pet them. John is a hard worker and is keeping pretty busy with work and going to school on the weekends to get his MBA. We are excited for him to be done this August so we can spend more time together. Joshua is almost a 18 months and is still a very happy boy. He loves to give hugs and kisses and mimics most of the words we say. Joshua enjoys watching Disney movies and has memorized certain parts. It's so funny to watch him because he will say parts of the movie at the same time the characters say something. I love being able to stay home and take care of Joshua. On April 2nd I got Lasik Surgery on my eyes and everything went well. It's been great not having to put contacts on every day and wear my glasses. John was the one who told me "I've been thinking and I think you should get Lasik Surgery on your eyes." I've never thought of doing Lasik before and thanks to John, (and the doctors of course) I am able to see 20/20! Thanks John for thinking of me.
